Avondale University is seeking applications for a part-time, 15 hours per week, Administrative Assistant, to join the School of Nursing & Health on the Lake Macquarie campus.

This important role is responsible for providing operational and administrative support for the Nursing course at Avondale by assisting staff and students on the Lake Macquarie campus.
What will you do?
Some of the main duties will include:
- Provide administrative support to the School but with a priority for LM Campus.
- Coordinate or assist with the processing of student extension requests, including Negotiated Assessment Submission Plans.
- Assist with managing department stock including clinical laboratory supplies, stationery supplies and office equipment.
- Assist with managing the student uniform sales for the Bachelor of Nursing students.
- Assist with document preparation and collation for accreditations and advisory committees.
- Assist with agendas, minutes or with processing outcomes of School or other committees where required.
- Produce reports as requested.
- Assist with induction and support for sessional academic staff.
- Provide support for the School with scheduling and room preparation, and facilities management, including maintenance requests
- Provide support to the LMS Officer as needed.
- Liaise with Sydney Campus in relation to exam preparation and supervision when required.
- Assist with student orientation days and/or marketing/promotional activities as requested by the Campus Manager or School Administration.
About you
To be successful in the Administrative Assistant role, you will be a highly motivated individual with great interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential criteria
- A willingness to strongly support the mission, values, and ethos of Avondale
- Have achieved Certificate level qualifications in office administration (or similar) and/or relevant experience.
- Competence in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and scheduling and capacity to adapt to new software
- Have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail with an ability to meet competing work demands and to use one’s initiative.
- Have excellent communication skills with a high level of written and verbal English language skills.
- Have a pleasant demeanour, be tactful, demonstrate sound judgement with a respectful and professional approach to people.
- Have a NSW C class drivers license and willingness to travel between campuses or to other venues as required in own vehicle if required.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Initiative, good judgement and problem solving ability
- Ability to exercise independent responsibility in consultation with supervisor
- Cooperate with all work health and safety policies and procedures related to the work being undertaken and ensure that their actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of others at Avondale. Promote a safe work place and identify unsafe practices

Desirable Criteria
- Diploma level qualifications or higher (or equivalent) in office administration.
- Experience in a Christian higher education support context
- Understanding of an on-line learning environment
- Willing to be flexible in working hours, including weekends on limited occasions.

Salary: Avondale Higher Education Worker Level 4 $37.26 - $39.14 per hour, plus superannuation.
